A Salt Lake City man was arrested on suspicion of firing a gun during a dispute with his girlfriend's family while three children waited in a car in the driveway.

Police received reports of shots fired Tuesday afternoon at a house near 400 North and 1895 West. Witnesses said the owner of the house, 18, was fighting with his girlfriend when the girlfriend's family arrived to help her, said Salt Lake City police spokeswoman Robin Snyder.

After arguing with the four adult family members, the man allegedly came outside with a gun and fired it multiple times but not at anyone, Snyder said. No one was injured. The man fled but agreed to return after a phone call from detectives.
