I am one of those lucky people who got to see Bob Dylan's concert at Saltair. I agree with David Burger that Dylan was magnificent, and, yes, 40 years later his music is still relevant ("Bob Dylan hampered by Saltair," Tribune , Oct. 20).

But I differ with Burger about the venue. Saltair provided an opportunity for something great. I went to the show with friends about my age (50). We arrived early to mill around and nestle in. We found great seats on the north side, where the sound was perfect. I was absolutely enthralled by the intimacy of the venue. Everyone was respectful and excited about being with Dylan and with one another. We bumped shoulders with kids who inherited their love for Dylan from their parents and folks who said they were at Woodstock and told tales about Dylan, Janis Joplin and Neil Young. This was all possible because of the beauty of Saltair!

The parking was great, the attendants helpful, and we were happy to pay five bucks. The mud ... well, I'm glad Burger didn't review Woodstock. Damn that mud! Who was so negligent to let it rain on their parade?
