With veterans from World War II advancing in age, the University of Utah Veterans Day committee has chosen nine to be among its 11 honorees this year.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, the U.'s annual Veterans Day Commemoration will include several activities, all free and open to the public.

» Morning panel: From 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Olpin Union Theatre, military and civilian experts will discuss the present and future of military medicine in a session titled "After the Battlefield."

» Ceremony: At 11 a.m. in the Olpin Union Ballroom, the 11 veterans will be honored in a full-dress military ceremony.

» Reception: At 12:30 p.m. in the ballroom, a reception will honor U. student veterans. The Phoenix Swing Band will perform; many of its local retired musicians are veterans.

» Concert: At 7 p.m., the 54th annual Veterans Day Concert will be held at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band will perform instrumental songs and melodies. A chorus of hundreds of students from nearby high schools also will perform.

This year's honorees, selected from nominations submitted by friends and family, are:
