An Ogden woman died Sunday after she was thrown from a car that rolled off Interstate 15 near Clearfield.

Monica Waterfall, 38, was a backseat passenger in a Chevy Cobalt that was traveling south when the driver veered and overcorrected, troopers wrote in a news statement. The car crashed into the median, and Waterfall died at the scene. The driver was flown to a hospital in critical condition. Two passengers were taken by ambulance; they were expected to survive, troopers wrote. Waterfall, the driver and one of the passengers were not wearing seatbelts, troopers wrote.

Officers do not know why the driver swerved, but Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Jeff Nigbur said he may have been distracted by a fight with a passenger.
