The Utah Transit Authority is cutting the base fare to $2 from $3 for travel to just one station on the FrontRunner commuter rail line. The reduction takes effect Sunday. The incremental station fare will remain at 50 cents.

UTA says the maximum one-way fare will drop to $5 from $6 from Salt Lake City to Pleasant View.

UTA general manager John Inglish says the changes bring FrontRunner fares more in line with other UTA transportation services.

Also starting Sunday, the popular group pass -- which started as a summer promotion for FrontRunner -- will be valid on Trax, buses and FrontRunner. The $12 group pass is good as a day pass for up to four people during regular service hours.
