Salt Lake County residents interested in learning more about Mayor Peter Corroon's 2010 budget will get four up-close opportunities during "community conversations" scheduled in early November.

Corroon recently submitted his spending plan that calls for a reduction of $164 million from the county's current $801 million budget. He also is calling for a property tax hike -- the first of his five-year tenure -- in order to sustain services.

The 90-minute community conversations are designed to give residents an overview of the spreadsheet, explanation of how tax dollars are being spent, and an opportunity to meet with Corroon's staff.

Budget information is available on the county's Web site, www.slco.org
