The Utah Supreme Court has issued an order outlining courtroom rules and security during an appeal hearing for Warren Jeffs, the polygamist church leader convicted on criminal charges in 2007.

The order signed by Associate Chief Justice Matthew Durrant says the Nov. 3 hearing could generate significant public interest. Jeffs is head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The 53-year-old's conviction on charges of rape as an accomplice stem from the 2001 marriage of an underage follower to her cousin. Jeffs was sentenced to two consecutive prison terms of five years to life.

The order adds the Utah Highway Patrol and Salt Lake City police to beef up regular court security. It also sets aside 18 passes for use by attorneys on each side and 15 passes for reporters.
