Police are looking for a man who they say sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl Saturday morning after she was given alcohol and then beaten.

The man allegedly took the girl into the basement of a home near 1200 S. Utah St. (1617 West), Salt Lake City police reported. He allegedly sexually assaulted her before a 46-year-old woman walked in and began beating her.

The woman later dragged the girl to a car while allegedly still beating her, drove her to an area near 4700 South and 2600 West and dragged her from the car, police said.

The girl called her mother just after 1 a.m., and was taken to a hospital.

The 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and kidnapping, police said.

Police were still looking for the man. He is described as Latino with black hair, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 170 pounds.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Salt Lake City police at 799-3000.
