Veteran broadcast journalist Daniel Schorr will join Iranian-American reporter Roxana Saberi in a lecture titled "Freedom of the Press: At What Cost?" Saturday at 7 p.m. at Rowland Hall St. Mark's, 720 S. Guardsman Way in Salt Lake City.

The event, sponsored by the McCarthey Family Foundation, is free to the public.

Saberi was working in Tehran when she was abducted last January, placed in solitary confinement and accused of spying for the United States. Sentenced to eight years in prison, she was freed after 100 days.

Schorr is a news analyst for National Public Radio, his latest stint in a long and distinguished journalism career which has brought him three Emmys and honors for his defense of the First Amendment. Early in his career, he was a member of Edward R. Murrow's legendary CBS team.

The lectures are presented by the McCarthey family, former owners of The Salt Lake Tribune.
