Who needs alarms or dye packs? All it took to scare away a would-be bank robber Wednesday in Salt Lake City was the threat of a 10-minute wait.

A man walked into the U.S. Bank at 170 S. Main Street about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday and handed the teller a note demanding specific amounts of currency, said Salt Lake City police spokeswoman Lara Jones. The teller told him she did not have the bills, so the man said he would wait for the other teller. The other teller told him it would take about 10 minutes, so the man left.

He is described as a white man in his 50s, about 5-foot-3, clean shaven, wearing a green medical scrub top and a green construction hat with a red circle on it. Anyone with information is asked to call 801-799-3000.
