A 63-year-old St. George man awaiting trial on five counts of sexual battery for allegedly fondling his ceramics students at Dixie High School has been accused of doing the same thing to a young family member.
Ronald Scott Sherman was at his Iron County cabin, near Dry Lakes west of Brian Head, along with his wife and another family member in late July or early August, said Iron County Deputy Aaron Pallesen.
Sherman and the young victim were in a different part of the cabin than his wife, where the girl said he touched her inappropriately, Pallesen said.
The girl told her parents, who then notified police, which led to two charges. Sherman faces one count of first-degree felony for sexual abuse of a child and one class A misdemeanor for lewdness involving a child.
In 2007, Sherman pleaded not guilty to five class A misdemeanor charges accusing him of touching or grabbing four female students during the 2006-07 school year.
Two of the five counts were connected to the same student, who told police Sherman had touched her on several occasions. Two girls also told police that Sherman had asked to see their genitals and had offered one of them $100.
Sherman was still awaiting trial and could face one year behind bars for each of those older charges.
