Police suspect the same person may have robbed two banks in less than 30 minutes in Salt Lake County on Thursday morning.

The first robbery happened about 9:30 a.m. at the Wells Fargo bank at 3981 W. 4700 South in Taylorsville, said Detective Troy Martinez. A man passed the teller a note demanding money, and made reference to having a weapon, though none was seen. The teller handed an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robber left the bank on foot, moving south on 400 West.

The man was described as Polynesian, in his 20s, 5-feet-6-inches to 5-feet-8-inches tall. He was wearing a knit camouflage-looking beanie with pink and blue markings and gold aviator-style glasses with brown lenses, along with a white short-sleeve polo shirt with black undershirt and baggy denim jeans.

Then, just before 10 a.m., a man in a colorful knit "painter's cap" robbed the Chase Bank at 10555 S. Redwood Road in South Jordan, said police Lt. Dan Starks. He left alone on foot, and got away with an unknown amount of cash. He was also wearing sunglasses and a light-colored T-shirt.

Starks called the robbery "brazen" because the bank is about 200 yards from the police station. South Jordan detectives are working with detectives in Taylorsville, along with FBI agents, to determine if the robberies were the work of the same man.
