A 20-foot boat carrying four women and four girls capsized in Utah Lake on Friday afternoon after waves five feet tall swamped the boat.
The Utah County Sheriff's Office and state park officials responded to the sinking boat about 4:20 p.m. when one of the woman on board used a cell phone to call for help, sheriff's Lt. Yvette Rice said.
The group of family and friends were returning to Pelican Point, a boat harbor near Saratoga Springs, when the waves swamped them about a mile and a half from shore.
Everybody on board was wearing a life jacket, Rice said. Utah Lake State Park officials pulled the woman and girls from the water about 4:50 p.m. None were injured but several of the girls complained of being cold, Rice said.
