A 20-year-old Salt Lake City woman who was the getaway driver in the robbery and slaying of a Family Dollar store employee will serve at least nine years in prison before being considered for parole.

Sarah Ataata is scheduled for an original parole hearing in March 2017, the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole announced Friday.

Ataata is serving up to life in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery and manslaughter for her part in the March 12, 2008, shooting death of 49-year-old store manager Wallace Knapton.

The triggerman, 18-year-old Biu Benjamin Olive, is scheduled for an original parole hearing in March 2038. after serving 30 years behind bars.

Olive pleaded guilty to aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and obstruction of justice.

Carrying a .22-caliber rifle, Olive and a 13-year-old boy armed with a handgun walked into the store at 1145 S. Glendale Drive (1555 West ), and demanded money. When Knapton walked up to see what was happening, Olive shot him once in the chest, according to charging documents.

Olive fled with $180 from the register, which he split with the boy and Ataata.

The boy, who pleaded guilty in juvenile court, can be held at a juvenile detention center until he is 21.
