After a historic finish in the last week's American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix, the Sandy-based Corsa Motorsports' electric hybrid race car returns to the track Aug. 7-9 at the Acura Sports Car Challenge in Lexington, Ohio.
Owner Steve Pruitt was thrilled with his car's finish in Northeast Grand Prix, where it finished third in the LMP1 class while running in full hybrid mode for the first time.
"It was a giant first step," Pruitt said. "To be on the [winner's] podium in our maiden race reassures us that we are headed down the right path and represent the future ... in advanced vehicle technology."
Reiger rolling
In the annual Copper Cup Classic at Rocky Mountain Raceway, Troy Regier won the Super Modifieds for the sixth year in a row.
Regier, who is from Dinuba, Calif., took the checkered flag just two days after winning a race in Las Vegas.
"It is always nice to come out to this track. I love this track," he said.
Regier started the race with 12 cars ahead of him. But he steadily moved to the front of the field and took the lead on the 38th lap of the 50-lap race.
The night's other winners included Matthew Webster (Western States Equipment Figure 8 Cars), Michael Daniels (Focus Midgets), Justin Jensen (Mini Cups) and Rob Davis and Jeff Verlin in the Maverik Modifieds, which ran two main events.

Other winners were Zan Sharp (Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Models), Randy Celia (Maverik Modifieds Main No. 1), Jason Aposhian (Maverik Modifieds Main No. 2) and Jerry Rice (Pro Race Trucks).
