Television network HBO claims its polygamy drama "Big Love" did nothing wrong in using the University of Utah's logo in a past episode without the school's permission.
"We are confident that nothing in the program violates anyone's rights, and HBO will be responding in due course," the cable network said Wednesday in a statement.
Network spokespeople declined to elaborate on the statement except to say that the network's attorneys would notify the university about how HBO might possibly fight the allegation.
University spokeswoman Coralie Alder said the school could not comment until officials had seen the response.

In the episode in question, which aired March 22, a document with U. letterhead and the block U logo is portrayed as a report by one of the university's research labs. In the storyline, Henrickson finds an historical letter from former Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints President Wilford Woodruff that legitimizes the practice of polygamy, and the university report authenticates the letter.
The letter is fictional, but the university claims producers used the logo without permission and demanded HBO delete the shot in all future airings of the episode and on the upcoming DVD release. HBO would not say Wednesday if it would
