A 41-year-old man convicted in 2004 and 2005 for possessing illegal drugs was arrested by South Salt Lake police Sunday morning for carrying cocaine in a plastic bag attached to an ankle monitoring bracelet.

South Salt Lake police stopped a white car just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday that appeared to be weaving down the road, spokesman Gary Keller said.

When the man gave police a fake driver license they asked him to get out of the car. One of the officers noticed the ankle monitoring bracelet and something hanging out of it, Keller said. The man tried to hide the baggy before officers confiscated it and determined it held rock cocaine.

The man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on possession of a controlled substance and giving false information to police.
