It was supposed to be a drug deal, except for a few minor details: the "buyers" didn't have any money, and the "sellers" didn't have any cocaine.

Salt Lake City police were called to a convenience store near 700 East and 2700 South when an employee called 911 to say a man pulled a gun in the parking lot Saturday about 10:30 p.m. The vehicle was stopped several blocks away at a 7-Eleven, where police ordered the four occupants out at gunpoint and found a loaded handgun under the front passenger seat.

According to police, the driver and front passenger met the two backseat passengers to buy cocaine. When the sellers found out the buyers had no money, and the buyers found out the sellers had no drugs, the sellers demanded the buyers come up with money or they wouldn't be let go.

One of the buyers pulled a gun -- which the convenience store clerk saw and which turned out to be stolen from West Jordan. Then all four got into a white Saturn and left the store.

When police found the car, all four occupants were booked on suspicion of offering and arranging a drug sale, and the two buyers were booked on suspicion of possession of stolen property. The gun and car were seized.
