Six people were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle accident that closed Redwood Road near 1660 South for about three hours Wednesday morning.

About 9:15 a.m., a minivan with a family of six people inside tried to make a left-hand turn to go north on Redwood Road, said Salt Lake City police Lt. Craig Gleason.

The driver apparently did not see a southbound commercial dump truck, and the truck hit the minivan. A small pickup truck behind the dump truck could not stop. The driver lost control and rolled over, Gleason said.

A 14-year-old girl from the minivan was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition, while three others from the minivan were taken to hospitals by ambulance, one in critical condition and the other two in stable condition, said Salt Lake City fire spokesman Mark Bednarik.

The pickup driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition, as well as one man from the dump truck, also in stable condition, Bednarik said. A second man in the dump truck was not taken to the hospital. None of the injuries appears life-threatening, he said.
