Davis County will begin a program next week to teach girls 9 to 13 how to lead healthier lifestyles and have a better self-image.

The BodyWorks classes are designed for young girls and their caretakers to learn positive eating and activity habits; research has shown young girls want their parents to be strong role models in fitness. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health developed the program.

A BodyWorks tool kit, which includes a recipe book as well as food and fitness journals, will be given to parents who participate.

The weekly classes begin June 4 and will include six sessions. The workshops will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Davis County Health Department Immunization Clinic, 596 W. 750 South, Woods Cross.

Registration is limited to 15 girls. For information, call 801-451-3230.
