Cache County authorities have ruled that the stabbing death of Tim Andrus during a mountain man rendezvous Sunday was accidental.

Andrus, 33, of Le Barge, Wyo., wore a knife in an over-the-shoulder sheath, sheriff's detectives said. The sheath was defective, and, while Andrus was wrestling with a friend at the Old Ephraim Rendezvous in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, the knife pierced his heart, the Cache County Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday.

A medical exam report collaborated the eye witness accounts of the accidental stabbing. The Cache County Attorney's Office also reviewed the case and has declined to file criminal charges, the sheriff's office reported.
