A 46-year-old man has died from injuries suffered in a Memorial Day motorcycle crash in Weber County.
Carl H. Mason of Uintah City was westbound on Interstate 84 on Monday when traffic came to a stop because of construction and congestion at 6:18 p.m., according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol. Mason changed lanes and locked up his brakes to avoid hitting stopped traffic but slid off the left shoulder of the road and was thrown from his 2007 Harley Davidson.
Mason, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered injuries to his head and chest, according to the news release. Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the accident.
Mason was transported to Ogden Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
