More than 1,300 Iron County residents who fought in World War II have a memorial in their honor.

The granite memorial lists the names of 1,357 veterans of the war.

The chairman of the veterans committee that led the project says it took two years to compile all the names. Committee members scoured local libraries and came up with a list of the men and women who served in the war.

If the list is incomplete, there is room for up to 50 more names to add to the memorial. A dedication ceremony was scheduled for Saturday.
