A Salt Lake County man has been charged with automobile homicide for a wreck that killed his passenger.

Prosecutors allege Jerome Joe Richard was drunk when he crashed his S10 Chevy truck on May 10. The passenger, Shelynda DeJoelie, was ejected.

Court documents say Richard and DeJoelie were traveling south near 7600 S. Highland Drive when Richard drove the truck onto a raised median and passed another vehicle. When he drove off the median, court documents say, the truck flipped.

The automobile homicide charge is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
