Rolly: Lawmaker's blog is there and then it isn't

When Rep. Craig Frank posted on his underthedome.org blog that Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will be able to spread the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mandarin when he is U.S. ambassador to China, he understandably got some flak from posters on his blog who thought that was a bad idea.

So when the Pleasant Grove Republican's blog site seemed to disappear Tuesday, some of us speculated he took it down because he got too much heat.

But he didn't take it down, and he doesn't apologize for his comments. It's just that in some areas, his blog site seems to have mysteriously disappeared.

When I tried his blog site Tuesday, a roofing company's Web site came up. I called Frank and told him, so he tried the same Web address and got his blog site. He had others in his office got the blog site as well. But everybody else at The Tribune got the roofing company's site.

I called several acquaintances in Salt Lake City, and they tried it on their computers but got the roofing company.

But a staffer at the Utah House of Representatives tried it and got Frank's blog site.

Perhaps only those who are worthy are able to log onto his Web site.

Freudian slip? » Former state Rep. Michael Thompson posted on his Facebook page the five people he most would like to meet. One of them was Alaska Gov. and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

But the picture he posted of Palin wasn't the real Palin. It was the actress who played Palin in the porn film that was made as a spoof on the Republican governor.

Somebody must have brought the error to the attention of Thompson, who was a morals crusader when he was in the Legislature, because he has changed the photo and now has the real face of Palin blessing his Facebook site.

Fun and games » Last week, at the College of Eastern Utah's Board of Trustees meeting in which a merger with Utah State University was being discussed, State Board of Regents member Marlon Snow burst into the room wearing a clown's wig and clown's buck teeth.

Snow, who a few years ago was one of the officials who tried to bribe the Utah Valley State College student council to cancel their speaking invitation to Michael Moore, perhaps was showing his true self.

Showing by example » I noted in Monday's column that Millcreek Journal editor Linda Peterson turned down a story idea about a business, stating that businesses wouldn't place ads in her paper if they could get free coverage. She also noted that special business profiles in the paper were given to companies that signed six-month advertising contracts as a perk.

Peterson is the former president of the Utah Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, which, among other things, strives to promote ethics in journalism.
