Interior's goodies for Utah

The Interior Department will invest $118.7 million in Utah from the Obama administration's federal stimulus pot, Secretary Ken Salazar said Wednesday.

This spending will occur across several agencies, which will be responsible for soliciting competitive bids for various "shovel-ready" projects.

Here are some highlights:

Central Utah Project Completion Act » $49.7 million

» Boost endangered-species recovery.

» Help wetlands conservation and mitigation development.

» Aid fishery development.

Bureau of Land Management » $29.4 million

» Authorize renewable-energy permits through ecological assessments of the Colorado Plateau.

» Launch multiple projects, including habitat restoration, trails maintenance and construction.

» Remediate abandoned mines.

» Fix roads and bridges.

National Park Service » $24.7 million

» Repair and increase energy efficiency at nature center and visitor shelters at Capitol Reef National Park.

» Launch multiple projects at Zion National Park such as the installation of photovoltaic panels at park headquarters, the museum building and visitor centers and performance of critical trail repairs in Zion Canyon.

» Replace meters and automating systems in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

» Fix now-shuttered visitor center at Dinosaur National Monument while repairing trails parkwide and replacing water lines.

» Build a flood-diversion wall at Arches National Park.

Bureau of Reclamation » $10.7 million

» Repair the Upper Stillwater Dam, Bonneville Unit.

Bureau of Indian Affairs » $3.7 million

» Maintain roads and bridges.

U.S. Geological Survey » $453,000

» Kick-start deferred maintenance.

» Upgrade stream gauges.

Fish & Wildlife Service » $106,000

» Develop an accessible trail spur at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge.

» Replace roofing at Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge.
