An May 5 arraignment in 2nd District Court has been set for former Bountiful Junior High School teacher Linda Richins Nef, who is accused of having sex with a student.

Nef, 46, on Friday waived her right to a preliminary hearing in connection with her alleged abuse of a then-13-year-old boy. She is charged with rape and sodomy against a child, both first-degree felonies.

Attorney Sean Druyon said Friday his client is still negotiating with prosecutors for a possible plea deal, and that Nef is undergoing a psychosexual evaluation.

Another Bountiful Junior High School teacher, 39-year-old Valynne Bowers, also has been charged with having sex with the same boy.
