A 31-year-old woman is hospitalized in serious condition today after being struck by a suspected drunken driver early this morning in downtown Salt Lake City.
The woman and her boyfriend were moving items at 12:30 a.m. from apartments at 230 E. 300 South. They were taking the items to a car parked at meters in the middle of the street, when a passing vehicle struck her, police said.
She was rushed to a local hospital, initially in critical condition. She was upgraded to serious condition at 6 a.m.
The man who was driving the eastbound vehicle was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of a third-degree felony for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.
