A bill that would study the economic impacts of undocumented immigrants on Utah passed the House on Wednesday.
HB107, sponsored by Rep. Stephen Clark, R-Provo, was amended to require the Legislature Auditor General to conduct the study and eliminate the original $150,000 cost of the study.
"This bill will give us good information to make good decisions," Clark said, citing that several other states have conducted such studies and some found that undocumented immigrants hurt the state financially while others earned money.
The bill goes to the Senate for further action.
