A Cessna airplane encountered a small flock of birds shortly after it took off from the Salt Lake City International Airport Sunday afternoon, prompting the plane to turn back to the airport.

The plane was not damaged and no one was hurt when two of the flock of four birds hit the plane in the windshield and wing about 12:50 p.m., said airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann.

None hit the engine, but the pilot turned back to the airport as a precaution. After a short stay on the ground, the pilot planned to take off again, Gann said.
