The 18-year-old Salt Lake City man who killed a Family Dollar Store employee last year will serve at least 30 years in prison before being considered for parole.

Biu Benjamin Olive is scheduled for an original parole hearing in March 2038, according to the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole.

Olive pleaded guilty to aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and obstruction of justice for the March 12 shooting death of 49-year-old store manager Wallace Knapton.

Carrying a .22-caliber rifle, Olive and a 13-year-old boy armed with a handgun walked into the store at 1145 S. Glendale Drive (1555 West ) and demanded money. When Knapton walked up to see what was happening, Olive shot him once in the chest, according to charging documents.

Olive fled with $180 from the register, which he split with the boy and 20-year-old getaway driver, Sarah Ataata.

Ataata, who is serving up to life in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery and manslaughter, has not yet had her case reviewed by the parole board.

The boy, who pleaded guilty in juvenile court, can be held at a juvenile detention center until he is 21.
