Police arrested 21-year-old Johnny Maurice Bell and booked him into the Weber County Jail after they say he admitted to killing his girlfriend.

The father of 23-year-old Brittany Nichols went to her home Sunday afternoon after he had called his daughter several times and found no response. He entered her home, using a spare key, and found his daughter's body.

Responding to emergency calls, North Ogden police officers arrived to find Nichols in her bedroom with several stab wounds and blood near a doorway, according to an affidavit filed with the Weber County Jail.

North Ogden Police Chief Polo Afuvai said Bell admitted at about 3:30 a.m. Monday that he had killed Nichols.

"The nearest we can find a motive is that she told him the relationship had ended," Afuvai said.

Police found Bell at a bus stop in Cove Fort late Sunday.
