A 65-year-old Salt Lake City man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Orem on Saturday evening as he tried to cross a busy street, police said. Witnesses said the man was hit near 1650 S. State St. as he attempted to walk across the road , said Orem police Lt. Gary Giles. The man was not using a crosswalk and apparently stumbled midway, Giles said. Two cars stopped for the man, but the driver of a third apparently did not see him and ran him over, Giles said. The man's name was not released Saturday evening, pending notification of relatives. Giles said the incident appears to have been an accident, but police were continuing to investigate.
