The Utah Avalanche Center is again warning people against venturing into the backcountry because of avalanche dangers.
The center says up to 3 feet of new snow, plus strong winds, have overloaded layers of very weak snow near the ground.
The center says avalanches can easily be triggered by people or happen naturally. The warning applies to the northern and central Utah mountains.
Two people snowmobiling on Wednesday were killed in an avalanche on the back side of Logan Peak in Cache County.
The two who died were identified as Erik Jorgensen, 22, of Paradise and Jesse Johnson, 23, of Hyrum.
