A 6-year-old Beaver County boy died Saturday in an all-terrain vehicle accident, police said.
Jubal White was riding on the ATV with a 10-year-old girl near his home in Beaver, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Steve Winward.
At about 4:30 p.m., the girl meant to put the machine in reverse, but instead put it in first gear. When she hit the gas, the vehicle went onto a chain-link fence. The girl was able to jump out of the way, but the boy was crushed when the machine rolled, Winward said.
He died of head trauma en route to Beaver Hospital. It was unclear whether the children were supervised at the time of the accident, Winward said. Neither child was wearing a helmet, he said.
