Economy forum planned Thursday in Salt Lake City

Utah Jobs with Justice is offering a free public forum on the topic "How to Solve the Economic Crisis" at 7 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium of the Salt Lake City Public Library, 210 East 400 South.

Scheduled speakers include: Hans Ehrbar, an economics professor at the University of Utah; Kelly Knutsen, senior policy associate at Utah Clean Energy; realtor Hob Calhoun; labor union organizer Brett Windley; high school teacher Warren Brodhead and Iraq war veteran Gary Barkley.

An open discussion also is planned.

Among recommendations from Utah Jobs with Justice: economic assistance for workers, students and low-income residents; pension protections; strengthened Social Security and social programs; a moratorium on residential foreclosures and evictions; and other long-term solutions.
