Taylorsville police arrested a 27-year-old man Thursday, more than two weeks after they say he and a friend attacked two victims using a wooden sword and baseball bat during a love-triangle fight. The alleged attacker challenged the victim, who had dated his girlfriend, to a fight, according to an affidavit filed with the Salt Lake County jail. The fight took place at the Taylorsville Softball Complex near 2700 West and 5200 South. The alleged attackers wielded a martial arts sword and a bat against their victims, and also broke windows and pounded dents into the victims' car, the affidavit said. One victim suffered minor injuries in the fight, and another was hospitalized in critical condition for a week with a skull and brain injury, the affidavit said. Taylorsville police Det. Shannon Bennett said Friday the victim had been released from the hospital but it is unclear whether he would suffer any long-term effects from the brain injuries. Police are looking for the second suspected attacker, who might be driving a black or dark blue Suzuki Reno, possibly with temporary tags. Call Taylorsville Det. Brian Weidmer at 801-955-2000 with any information on the crime. - Steve Gehrke
