Posted: 9:12 AM- EAGLE MOUNTAIN - A charter school in Utah County has been shut down until next week after 60 students and teachers were sickened by the norovirus.

Terry Beebe, of the Utah County Health Department, says the Ranches Academy in Eagle Mountain plans to do a thorough cleaning over the weekend.

The school closed down both Thursday and Friday following the spread of the illness, also called the Norwalk virus. The virus causes vomiting and diarrhea and Beebe says symptoms usually last a couple of days.

None of the sick students was hospitalized. School is expected to start again Monday.
