The Forgotten Patient Christmas Project at the Utah State Hospital has provided Christmas for Utah's severely mentally ill for more than 50 years.
Sponsors from the community receive a name and information about a patient, then shop for that patient for Christmas.
Last year more than 300 patients were sponsored. These patients have little or no family contact and are virtually alone during the holiday season.
