Posted: 7:51 AM- BRIGHAM CITY - A trial date may be set this week in the case of a former ranch manager who has been charged with 53 counts of theft related to cattle rustling.
Authorities say Richard W. Travis, 55, took cattle from a herd he was in charge of managing at the Rock Creek Ranch in Snowville. Police say he then sold the livestock at auctions and kept the proceeds.
Travis was arrested on the third-degree felony charges in July. He was eventually released on bail and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Last month, 1st District Judge Ben Hadfield found the evidence against Travis is sufficient for a trial and a date may be set at a status conference scheduled for this week.
