Posted: 11:16 AM- Federal authorities have accused a Lehi man of illegally trafficking in firearms through a free classified ad Web site.

Michael Patrick Anderson, 44, was charged last week by the U.S. Attorney's Office with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He had an initial court appearance on Tuesday and is being held pending a detention hearing.

The criminal complaint alleges that Anderson - a convicted felon - had a dozen firearms listed for sale Sept. 3 on ksl.com, including a Steyr 9 mm pistol and a Glock 10 mm pistol.

An undercover agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives made arrangements to meet Anderson at his home the next day and bought the Steyr pistol for $400, the complaint says.

Authorities say Anderson has three felony convictions in Colorado, which makes it illegal for him to possess or sell firearms. According to 4th District Court records in Provo, Anderson was granted a request in October 2000 to legally changed his name from Michael Patrick Lauderman.

Anderson faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
