A 73-year-old woman remained in critical condition at a Provo hospital Saturday evening after she was hit by a car earlier in the afternoon near a busy city intersection. The woman was struck in a crosswalk by a car about 1:45 p.m., according to a news release from the Provo Police Department. A 21-year-old man driving a black Toyota Tundra, who was eastbound on Paul Ream Avenue, was stopped at a red light and was preparing to turn right onto University Avenue. He apparently did not see the elderly woman in front of him because he was checking traffic to his left, the news release states. The driver turned right and struck the woman at a low speed. She fell to the ground and was later transported to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center with head trauma, the release states. The names of the driver and the victim were not immediately released.

Four people were robbed in Clearfield when two men entered a home with a hunting knife and pistol, police said. Two residents and two of their friends were inside the house in the 300 West block of 1980 South just before 6 p.m. Friday when the two armed men entered the house, according to a news release from the Clearfield Police Department. A thin blond man with a knife threw a bag on the kitchen counter and demanded the four put their money in it. Another man, heavyset with a blue hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head, brandished a pistol. The victims handed over their money. The two robbers left the house and fled eastbound in a silver Buick. No one was hurt, police said.

Man struck by car during brawl critical

A man was hit by a vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition during a fight at a West Valley City apartment complex early Saturday. Several people were involved in a fight at the Shadowbrook Apartment complex in the 3800 South block of 1700 West, said West Valley City police Sgt. Mark Moore. It's not clear how the fight started, but it does not appear gang-related. At some point during the fight, one man got into his vehicle and rammed another man, sending him to a hospital with broken bones and internal injuries, Moore said. The driver got away before police arrived. A 23-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a police officer. Moore said police have several leads on the driver.

Clothing store heist may be tied to others

West Valley City police are searching for a man who robbed a clothing store Friday night. About 7:30 p.m., a man wearing a hoodie sweatshirt and a sheet over his face with two eyeholes walked into Double Save, 1839 W. 3500 South, and demanded money from the register, said West Valley City police Lt. Dalan Taylor. The clerk initially refused, but when the man patted a bulge that appeared to be a gun, she relented and allowed him to take the money. The crime appears similar to other recent robberies in the Salt Lake Valley, Taylor said.
