CEDAR CITY - A Cedar City man will serve 18 months probation after pleading no contest Monday to disciplining his two sons with an electric dog collar.
Scott D. Dover, 47, originally charged with two counts of second-degree felony child neglect, entered pleas to two class A misdemeanor charges of child abuse before 5th District Judge John J. Walton.
Walton sentenced Dover to one year in the Iron County Jail on each charge to be served concurrently, but suspended both sentences and gave him probation.
Walton also fined Dover, who has been free on bail, $2,500 and ordered him to take parenting classes and therapy sessions with the two boys who were 5 and 6 at the time of the crimes.
