Utahns win $100K in Idaho

OGDEN - A Utah couple went to Boise, Idaho, to pick up $100k in lottery winnings.

Hill Air Force Base retirees Charles and Jennifer Thompson say they expect to keep $67,000 after paying state and federal taxes.

Utah prohibits gambling. The Thompsons, of Layton, said they drive to Idaho every two or three months to scratch lottery tickets.

On Sept. 12, they bought a $10 ''Deal or No Deal'' ticket at a Malad, Idaho, gas station and came up big winners.

The Thompsons said they had to drive to the Idaho Lottery headquarters in Boise to pick up a prize that large.

Lottery spokesman David Workman says people from Utah are winning some money all the time.

The Powerball is up to $154 million this weekend.
