Parowan police have released the name of an 11-year-old boy who died Sunday evening when his all-terrain vehicle was swept away by a creek swollen by heavy rains.
Damian Miller of Parowan was found in the small creek about 40 feet down from the unnamed dirt road located near P Hill, which is popular with ATV riders, Parowan Police Department Chief Preston Griffiths said.
The boy was reported missing Sunday morning after his father realized his son had not returned from a ride on his ATV. Police said the boy apparently crossed the creek, but when he attempted to maneuver it on his way back, the creek had swollen and the boy was swept away by the forceful waters. Miller was found hours later after the waters had calmed.
