LAYTON - Top military brass are paying a visit to Hill Air Force Base to emphasize safety in handling of nuclear weapons and parts.

Acting Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and Air Force Gen. Norton Schwartz, the new chief of staff, plan to address airmen in a town hall-style meeting.

The two officials were appointed earlier this summer after the resignations of Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne and Chief of Staff Gen. T. Michael Moseley.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates sought the resignations because of two incidents in which the Air Force lost track of nuclear weapons or parts. One of the incidents involved Hill, with weapons fuses mistakenly shipped to Taiwan instead of the helicopter batteries that were ordered.
