Those cities are among the nearly 100 local government entities, including water and school districts, statewide that are proposing tax hikes. Potential increases in Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties range from 12 cents a year on a $107,000 home in Payson to $269.21 a year on a $299,000 home in Saratoga Springs, where the City Council also is considering a lower tax bump of about $120.
City Councils must hold a public hearing before approving a tax jump. They have the discretion to lower the amounts or ditch a tax hike entirely.
