CEDAR CITY - Topics will range from the economic impact of all-terrain vehicles to energy and water issues at the 21st Annual Utah Rural Summit set for today and Friday at Southern Utah University. The conference will feature business people and government officials from around Utah.
Wes Curtis, director of the Utah Center for Rural Life, which sponsors the conference, said the gathering usually attracts a crowd of about 250.
"The purpose of the summit is to have a forum for discussing rural issues and offering information and training leaders," Curtis said.
A summit highlight will be a presentation about a socio-economic study on rural land issues, including recreation, agriculture and wild and scenic rivers.
The $750,000 study was prepared by state officials and Utah State University.
Keynote speakers at the conference include Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert, Tribune editorial cartoonist Pat Bagley.
