There is still no word on whether Hogle Zoo's multimillion-dollar renovation of its animal park will reach November's ballot.
The Salt Lake County Council delayed for one week its debate about whether the zoo will have to raise $20 million in private donations before tapping taxpayer dollars - a fundraising bar that park officials describe as too high.
While Hogle leaders won't say whether that requirement will keep the zoo bond off the ballot, they characterize talks with the council as "critical" for determining whether the campaign will go forward.
The zoo hopes to lower that upfront fundraising commitment and then hit up voters for a $65 million bond to help pay for, among other items, a new arctic exhibit, a lifelike African savanna and an updated animal hospital.
