Ricky Horst, South Jordan's city manager for close to nine years, resigned Tuesday night.

The City Council appointed Assistant City Manager John Geilmann to act as interim city manager while the city searches for Horst's replacement.

Horst has been tapped to be city manager in Ocala, Fla., a city with 58,000 residents and a service area of 300,000 people.

A Florida native, he will leave South Jordan City Hall in 30 days.

"We are sad to see Mr. Horst go," Mayor Kent Money said. "But we can wish him well because we know this city is still left in good, capable hands . . . That makes it easier."
